Taiwanese electronics giant Lite-On Technology has approved an additional $320 million investment in Vietnam to expand production capacity, supported by growing global demand for cloud computing and AI infrastructure.
The investment will be allocated across two subsidiaries:
๐ Quang Ninh: $210 million for Lite-On Technology Vietnam, which is developing a major manufacturing complex at Song Khoai Industrial Park. The 30-hectare project has a planned investment of $690 million, with its new factory expected to open in November 2026. The facility will be approximately four times the size of Lite-On’s existing plant in Hai Phong.
๐ Hai Phong: $110 million for Lite-On Vietnam, which has operated since 2013, manufacturing electronic components, computer peripherals, and optical equipment.
The latest commitment follows another $149 million investment announced in April 2026, bringing newly approved capital injections this year to $469 million.
Lite-On reported an 80% y/y increase in cloud computing revenue during 9M/2026, while AI-related products accounted for over 30% of total revenue. The company is expanding its capabilities in AI data center power management, liquid cooling, and optical communications.
The expansion also reflects orders from major North American cloud computing customers, further connecting Vietnam’s manufacturing sector with global technology supply chains.
Vietnam continues to strengthen its position as a manufacturing hub for higher-value electronics, as established foreign investors expand their operations beyond traditional consumer electronics into components supporting cloud computing and AI infrastructure.
